Making Phone Calls

In order to make a phone call to Kalymnos from abroad, dial 0030 and then the ten-digit phone number, with the local ID. e.g if you want to call the Municipal IT Office from your country, you must call 0030 22430 22085
If you wish to make a phone call abroad while in Kalymnos, dial 00, followed by the country code and the telephone number.

International calls can be made from public telephones available at various central locations in all villages, as well as at the airport, harbor and elsewhere. There are three types of public telephones – coin phones, outdoor card phones and indoor card phones. Public payphones can be used for both national and international calls. Dialing instructions as well as rates are displayed in all payphones.

Calling within Kalymnos simply requires dialing the ten-digit telephone number.

Kalymnos island is served from three different mobile service companies (Cosmote, Vodafone Greece, Wind Greece), which provide mobile calls to Greece and abroad. 3G is supported in the island.

Sending Letters, Parcels, Cards

You can send your letters from the Post Office (ELTA), or use the yellow mailboxes on the street.
Stamps may be purchased from the Post Office (ELTA), Postal Agencies, as well as from many hotels, news stands, kiosks, etc. Post Office offers other services, including courier service (data post), money orders, parcel post, etc.

Internet Connection

Many establishments including phone centers, Internet cafes and hotels offer Internet connection services of various speeds and types (Mostly ADSL with a connection speed up to 24 MBits). Depending on the establishment, the service offered is wired or wireless and is usually charged by the hour or in many cases provided totally free.

Ham Radio

There are two resident, licensed Ham Radio Operators, SV5DZX and SW5KKO. SM0CMH from Sweden spends lots of time here, and runs his contests from his Kalymnos QTH. The island is linked to the VHF repeater system (an R7 in Kos and an R6b at Astypalaia. No digital modes are offered.
