A new book about the life of Sponge Divers!

“i Sfoungari i Tomari” is the title of a book written by Faneromeni Halkidiou-Skylla about the life of the legendary sponge divers of Kalymnos.

This saying was used by the divers of old to show that without full commitment and determination you will not survive in this perilous profession!

The book itself is a collection of true stories, recounted by the divers involved. It is full of photographs, verses, authentic contracts and letters – emotionally charged memoirs, through which we learn about the life of these valiant, all-defying men, both at sea and on land.

It can be found at all bookstores ( 20€) and will be officially presented to the public at 20:30, on 29th July, in Christos Square, by Fani Kapella-Koutouzi, Giannis Patellis, Kyriakos Hadzidakis and Merkourios Volonakis.
