This is one of the most significant caves and very close to Pothia.
It is situated beyond the Monastery of St Katerina, in the area of Kefala.

It is very interesting from a speleological point of view because it has a corridor of 103m long, strewn with enormous stalactites and stalagmites. It was initially recorded as The Cave of Zeus.

It is also believed that it was the hunting ground of pirates, in search for treasure. It is accessible by sea or by motor road and dirt road from Pothia. From the top of the hill where the dirt road leads you, after the paved St. Katerina road has run its length, follow the blue markings on the rocks, along the path taking you to the final building.

The goat path that goes to the cave on the slope to the northwest, branches off to the right and is perfectly visible, as is the cave itself whose entrance is sheltered from the sun by an awning.

  • Helmets and headlights provided by the keeper.
  • Admission to cave 2€
